How much is 35 Cubic Yards?  I’ve been trying to fathom the physical dimension of just such a presence since last week. My reason for wanting to comprehend this mass is that we were just given this exact amount of soil from Red Wing Sand and Gravel to cover the vacant lot that sits at 535 Main St. in Poughkeepsie, NY. For this we are very grateful.

Presently, the composition of the land at 535 Main is primarily made up of concrete, rock and brick left from when the original building at the site was demolished.  Efforts to dig are constantly frustrated by this mixture. By covering the entire site with soil, we begin to build a later of material that with some care can be a fertile site not only for the arts, but community development, food and fun.

Our hope is to have the soil delivered for our June 28th Beautification Day.
