I see myself as an instigator, defined in a hybrid role that combines the artist/designer/critic/socially-concerned person together. In that role, I facilitate a dialogue through art about specific contexts, relationships, and moments in time. The objective is to find points of shared experience and understanding that bind people together.
This work operates within networks of social activity to create situations for communication and interaction. The process is entirely collaborative, building partnerships with individuals, communities, and institutions to create dynamic conversations. Here dialogue is used as an agent for action, providing participants with the means to actively engage in the production of the work. In each situation, individuals bring their own ideas and perspectives, and then see them woven into a larger whole.
Projects manifest themselves in various forms, as installations, performance, and sculpture. The media connect with the audience on multiple levels, engaging physically, mentally, and emotionally to the situation at hand. The final outcome is the teasing out of meaning that lives both as a physical object, and as a memory that the audience can always return.
